Thursday Snippet

I’m going to be honest…I am exhausted. The the winter crud has struck again and sleeping sitting up is not as easy to do at night as it is when you’re sitting on your couch watching tv.

Sooooo….instead of whining about how miserable I feel, I’m going to give you a little snippet from Breathe Me to Life, my contribution to the soon to be released but available for pre-order for only 99 pennies.

Breathe Me to Life Snippet

A year after the veil between the Fae and human realms fell, she’d started seeing Kellan in her dreams. Only there did she know the feel of his hands against her skin, the never satisfying hunger for his kiss, the taste of his sweat, and the musky scent of their bodies made as they rose to the pinnacle of ecstasy and shattered together. There she knew the feel of his arms holding her tightly against his sweat-drenched body, as she reluctantly fell into an exhausted sleep, just to wake to an empty room and bed, with only the phantom touch of him upon her skin. Those nightly visits came to an abrupt  five days ago. Her heart ached at the pang of loss even as her brain railed at his disappearance without out a word of goodbye. In the light of day, she knew they were just dreams. What she shared with Kellan in the recesses of her sleeping mind was not real. But it felt like it was, or had been.

The sound of a throat clearing brought Ailsa out of her out of her reverie. Looking up, her breath caught in her throat. Before her was Kellan dressed in black leather pants that hugged hips and muscular legs like a second skin. A white tunic tucked into his waistband with a V at the neckline offered a teasing glimpse of the chest it covered. The man who had been her dream lover and ruined any attraction to other men was now standing in front of her. Mouth open, she stood staring at him in shocked surprise. A smirk tipped up one corner of his full lips.

Get Your Snippet…

This morning seems to be working out as one where it is more than obvious that I did not get nearly enough sleep, and there may not be enough caffeine in the world today to make up for the deficit. However…I did want to share a brief snippet from Breathe Me to Life. It is the story that is going to be in the fairytale boxset due to be released in May.

Breathe Me to Life (Once Upon A Twisted Time)

Kellan, Prince of the Light Court, searched the area for the reason the revelry had come to an abrupt halt. His gaze fell on the waif-like creature that had crossed through the thinned veil into Faerie. Rising to his feet, he brushed off the delicate, but annoyingly grasping hand of Devany from his arm. Without regard to her gasp of offence, or sparing her a second thought, he wove his way through the glittering throng of Fae to reach the female.

Out of the corner of his eye, he caught the sight of Prince Orin also heading towards the chit. That wouldn’t do at all. There was no way he would allow a lesser Prince, with his pale skin and equally pale hair and eyes to lay claim on a prize he had decided was his. Possessiveness had never been one of his vices. Suddenly feeling it gave him pause, but didn’t halt his steps forward or diminish his determination.

It had been a long time since a female had sparked Kellan’s interest for more than the momentary satisfaction of having his carnal needs met. He’d scratched the itch, but the desire to spend more time with the insipid females, whose sole focus was climbing their way to a seat that much closer to the throne than the one they currently occupied, was fleeting. Not even Devany, with her golden beauty, enticed him to bond with her.

She wasn’t a full blood mortal, of that he was sure. He could sense Fae blood coursing through her veins. She was shabbily dressed in a gown that had long since seen better days and would have served its purpose better as a rag. Her dark hair, with its streaks of auburn glowing in the light of the bonfire, tumbled down her back in a riot of curls, brushing the curve of her waist. She was young, by Fae and mortal standards, yet her luminescent skin, big green eyes, and high cheekbones hinted at the exquisite beauty yet to be.

He reached her just before Orin did. He swallowed a chuckle as the lesser Prince bowed and backed away, muttering his displeasure at being thwarted under his breath. He turned his attention back to the girl staring up at him in awe with her mouth slightly open. Smiling, Kellan cocked his head to the side, “And who might you be?” © Jolanthe Aleksander 2018

Inventory and Signings

It’s that time of year. What time is that you ask? It’s that time to take inventory of what I’ll need for book signings. Rack cards, magnets, postcards, free with purchase swag, book marks…do I want to purchase pens? The list can go on and on.

Initially, I was going to attend 3 signings this year. Unfortunately, I had to pull out of one due to a family obligation. I will be at Writers on the River in Peoria, IL and at Penned Con in St. Louis.

Writers on the River is on July 21. 2018. It is a charity even and proceeds go to two wonderful charities, Love Heals Thistle Farms and The Center for Prevention of Abuse.
Take a look at all the authors that will be attending this event…but keep in mind, life has a way of getting in the way, and this list is subject to change because of it. Click on the link to read up on the attending authors and find out a little more about the charities.

The other event I will attend, Penned Con is September 20-22. Proceeds from this event benefit, Action for Autism. Two Ballrooms of Authors waiting and wanting to talk books with you. Two days to purchase and get your books signed, and parties for authors and readers to mingle outside of the signing rooms. Click on the link to check out the list of authors and to learn a little more about Action for Autism.

As far as books I will have at these events goes…I will, of course, have Beyond the Veil of Whispered Dreams and The Veiled Path to Destiny available for purchase.

The fairytale short story I’m writing will still be a part of the e-book boxset that will be released in May.  That being said, the pre-order links (the Amazon link not available yet) for Once Upon a Twisted Time are up, if you’d like to pre-order your copy.
