Celebrating my book babies’ birthdays

When my days off finally roll around, the first day is spent doing mundane chores; laundry, shopping, and all the other tasks left undone during my work rotation. While I go about my day my mind is on two things, the topic for this week’s blog and channeling my characters in my WIP. The blog is usually more difficult. I never know what I’m going to write about. Usually, I sit at my desk and words spill out on the page. I started this as a diary of sorts, chronicling my journey as a writer. Believe me, it’s not a glamourous life. If you’ve followed my blog for the last couple of years, you know it’s a constant whirl of emotions, LOTS of revisions, frustrations and small triumphs. I can’t say I’d change a thing, either.

Lately, I’ve been promoting my upcoming release, making teasers and swag, preparing for another giveaway (I’ll give you more details on that in a bit), and working on my WIP. I also signed up for another Reviewer Roundup with Kelli Smith coming up April 18. I’m really excited about it because it’s for series only! The “Spring into Series” is a multi-genre event guaranteed to have something for everyone. I’ll have my Kindred series listed and will be posting notices closer to the event.

Now, for a quick rundown on my giveaway. I have declared April as Kindred Month! All of my Kindred book babies are released in April. To celebrate I’m giving away a set of all my books, signed of course, and a special swag package to one lucky winner. There’s a catch, however. Isn’t there always? You have to be signed up for my newsletter to find the key to enter. If you haven’t already signed up, you can do it here: You have to hurry, though. My newsletter goes out tomorrow, so you need to sign up TODAY!

Until next week,

It Has Begun

Caffeine hasn’t made it to the part of my brain that pulls words out of the air so this next sentence is going to be a bit rambly. The book that is a part of the Veil series…but is not a continuation of Daria and Iauron’s story…in other words, Celine and Coipeail’s has begun! Right now the working title is Veiled Hearts Revealed…but that may change once I get further into the story. I’ve talked to my publisher and we have a tentative release date…I’m not going to say what it is right now, because I tend to jinx myself when I do.

In the meantime, have you read the first two books in the Veil Series? No? You should. Beyond the Veil of Whispered Dreams is the first book, and where you will meet them. Their romance begins in  The Veiled Path to Destiny

Until next week…Happy Reading!

Finding my Passion

In the midst of making teasers and swag for my upcoming release, I decided to make myself a charm bracelet. I seldom wear bracelets, and never was really into charms, but this one was going to be a special one. I made tiny book cover charms for the books I’ve written, including the three I intend to publish this year. Added to that, I have charms that pertain to each book. Once I got them all on the bracelet, I was amazed at how full the links were already. Looking over the charms made me realized how exciting the last two and a half years have been. That’s right, I started Phoenix Rising in August of 2015. My life has certainly changed for the better. I can’t imagine not writing, now.

I’ll never get rich, and I may never make that elusive best seller list, but those were never goals when I started writing. They still aren’t. I started writing because I had a story that had to get out. Now that my Kindred series is more than half done, I’m working on other stories. I’ve found something I truly enjoy doing. I’ve found my passion.

I’m discovering I have a faithful following of readers who enjoy my stories, too. That’s my reward. Not money, not a label to stick on my book cover, (though I would be lying if I said I don’t want it 😉) No, my greatest reward is when a reader tells me how much they enjoy my books, eagerly waiting for the next one. This past week I’ve been able to visit with a few of those special friends. This is the best kind of encouragement to keep me writing.

On that note, I’ll leave you with the link to my upcoming release, A Destiny Denied. You can pre-order now for only 99 pennies. Grab your copy now! If my Kindred series is new to you, book one is Phoenix Rising, followed by Eternal Embrace. My sexy Alpha warriors would love to meet you.

Mental Vacation

My story, Breathe Me to Life, is off my desk! “What are you going to do next, Joli?” you ask. I’d like to say Go to Disney or, better yet, Going to a warm beach…but alas, neither one of these scenarios is the case. I am, however, going to give myself a mental vacation.

One week to read, watch tv shows, movie marathons (LOTR is my favorite). Just one week to give my creative faculties a chance to recharge. I admire the heck out of everyone who can go from writing one story and dive into writing the next one right away. Oh, and those who can write multiple stories at the same time….geniuses! Because I normally write dual pov, I think I would truly end up with multiple personality disorder, if I tried to write more than one book at a time.

This week I’ve read Burn Bright by Patricia Briggs and Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop…oh, and I watched the Voice. This is not to say my next story isn’t percolating in my brain…it is. The next story will be Celine and Cóipeáil’s.

Ooooo….I created a new reader group on Facebook. It’s a group for readers who like my book and want sneak peeks at what’s to come. If you’d like to join…click this link.

Until next week…Happy Reading!

New Year – same retreat week

It’s here!

Writing retreat week has finally arrived and I’m almost ready to go.
Yeah, you’re not buying that either, are you?

No…I’m not packed fully. Nor am I ready to roll out. There are a landmass ton of things left to do before I take the road south. Some from the list, others brand new, not even inked to be crossed off yet.

So…here’s the skinny, quick and dirty style.

First off…I’m totally jacked to share that my website has been rebuilt.
It’s beautiful and still in my style and colors. I love that this project came together. I never fully embraced what my website was, or could be. It’s so far off my collective forte of activities…but, I realize now, a vital piece of the New Year – New Everything that I’m embracing.
Check it out!!  HERE

Next up, because who doesn’t go away on release week to a place that they have no idea what their connectivity will look like. As mentioned before, Magic Rising releases this Thursday for everyone who reads kindle. You can find Ciannait’s side of the Rogue tale  HERE

Don’t worry if you didn’t get a chance to read Rogue. It’s coming back out in the sister release Dark Rising May 1st.

Last up, while I’m away I’ll be polishing the latest addition to the schedule…a Paranormal Dating Agency Kindle World release that’s coming out April 10th. Watch for the cover reveal and blurb about…

Baiting a Berserker

…when I get back from Mississippi. I’m quite excited about this. I was asked to participate last year but couldn’t make it work into the already jam-packed agenda…so, though I had signed on for later this year…this one is coming early. Addian Hevir will have his hands full once Gerri Wilder gets involved.
Stay tuned!

Before I get back though, I’ll be signing on the 24th at the IP Casino in Biloxi Mississippi with the Crazy Cajuns. It’s the last year for this event…so let’s make it massive. Hope you can join us.

The next post is coming from the beach…or maybe just a more leveled out me.
HEY! It could happen. See you then.  ~Sav

From WIPs to Releases

I’ve spent the past week working on my urban fantasy novel, To Kill A Demon. I finally finished the last story. Well, I thought it was the last one. I started a short story a while back. It had to do with zombies. *shudders* Personally, I don’t care for zombies. Don’t like the movies, and I sure don’t want to write about them. My muse, however, had other ideas. So, the story was started, but never finished. The closer I got to finishing the WIP, the more the zombie story kept jumping in my head, wanting to be completed. I’m not sure which way to go, either finish it as it is, or change the zombies to something I can deal with. Believe me, at this point, suggestions are welcome! Either way, I’m afraid it’s insisting on being a part of the Chronicles of Sully and Larke, which is going to give me seven action-packed tales.

Have you seen my pre-order link for A Destiny Denied? I’ve been posting it everywhere! Book three of The Kindred Series will be released April 10. If you pre-order now, you can get it for only 99 pennies. That’s a hard deal to beat! Get Doc and Maggie’s story HERE

Signs of Spring!

It’s a bright, beautiful morning…well, not really. Daylight Saving Time is in full effect, so it’s still dark, but I’m hoping it’s going to be a sunny day. I saw my first robin yesterday. A sure sign that Winter is on the verge of being kicked to the curb. What signs of Spring do you look for?

Soooo….I thought I’d share the blurb for my story in the fairytale boxset due to come out in May.

Ailsa was biding her time when the call of the music floating on the wings of the night’s wind led her to a moonlit glen and another world.
Kellan, Prince of the Fae Court, was tired and bored with things as they were until a young woman not only sparked his interest but his desire to finally claim a mate.
Two souls find in each other a connection unlike any other.
A chance encounter brought them together. A dream created a bond. Will the jealousy of one who was scorned tear them apart? Or will love’s kiss breathe life into a sleeping beauty?

From the days of old, with the twist of new, these fairytales are just for you.

Drawing from a well of myth and legend, each of these 16 USA Today and NYT Best Selling Authors, has put their own twist on a story from childhood.

Modernized tales of love, war, oaths, and curses, uncover the secrets in Once Upon a Twisted Time. We promise you a Happily Ever After…

You can pre-order your copy for only $0.99.

New Year – same hustle

Booking in Biloxi is just over a week away, and like last year, I’m humping the deadlines to get everything off my desk before I leave.

Last year, I had a lovely river house, seclusion, and quiet to spend my writing retreat time, though I wasn’t there much. This year, it’s a beachfront condo facing the gulf. Maybe I’ll get more words on the page this round…maybe.

I have a stop in NOLA on my way in to visit my favorite Mardi Gras supply house and restock for the signing season. I’m hoping to find some new goodies since my tried and true are out of stock, and according to the shop, not due in soon. I’ll be picking up some event-specific things too for a signing that won’t happen until July, but prepared is a good thing.

so, for now…it’s back to the word-wrap and gettur done mode. I have 1 week to make it all come together, and great Goddess willing…all the swag will arrive before I leave this time, instead of after I’ve gone. Timing…always timing.

Happy Reading this week…there are some great titles hitting the shelf in March. Grab a few and enjoy the change over from winter. See you next week.

NYN….wait, which way is up?

It’s March…how is it MARCH already?
It feels like we just started this year and we’re on the cusp of wrapping the first quarter already? WAIT…I’m not ready.

I’ve been completely slammed with projects…writer ones, and professional other ones that I’ll tell you about later. But, added to that was 3.5 weeks of FLU. No, I didn’t have the sniffling, sneezing, achy flu…I got the monster coughing up my lungs, can’t see from my eyes watering whenever they were open, how many times can one person be hit by the same truck, flu. Goddess I wished for a coma.

Believe it or not, all that aside, I am one deadline away from wrapping my Q1 on schedule and heading off to my personal writing retreat along the coast. I can scarcely believe how close I am. That said…this last deadline is killing me. I’ve written so many versions of this story that I’m seriously considering putting out my own anthology with all the incarnations. Mind you…I hate every one of them which I why I’ve been rewriting like a madman. So, maybe not.

On that thought…I need to kick my own butt back into the chair and whap this out…so I’ll leave you with deets on the THREE sets I have coming out in the next 60 days or so. ALL THREE are available to preorder RIGHT NOW for $0.99

You read that right – 99 pennines!!

#1 – coming March 22nd to Kindle is Magic Rising.

For those who caught Rogue last year, the counterpoint story is Black Guard. ((Rogue & Black Guard are books 1 & 2 in The Una-Mor Trilogy btw))

Always learning . . .

The past couple of days I’ve spent working on a video trailer for my upcoming release, A Destiny Denied. After countless attempts and edits, I finally figured out how to make the new program work. I was so impressed with the results, I paid for the pro membership. That’s saying a lot. My advertising budget is practically nonexistent. I’ve had to do what I can, when I can, with what I have available. Having a video trailer for your book is not a necessity. I just happen to like them. I think they add a nice touch when you’re trying to promote your latest release. I have one for all of my books. With Kizoa, I’ll be able to continue making them.

Today, I’ll be attending a Writer’s Conference. The schedule is jam packed with workshops and celebrated speakers such as R. L. Stine (Goosebumps fame), Monique Patterson (St. Martin’s Press executive editor), Jaycee Ford, and Melissa Marr, among many others. I went last year for the first time. While I found it interesting, I was disappointed to find that it was all geared toward publishing houses. Pleased to see that this year’s schedule has topics that address self-publishing, I have a feeling I’ll get a lot more out of the experience. I’m sure I’ll leave with inspirations and new ideas to keep me writing.

Speaking of which, there’s a story that requires my attention.

Till next week,
